Matt Coapman has a passion for people. With a friendly smile a mile wide, his positivity is contagious. He has been generously giving his time and talent, working tirelessly to expand and improve upon the Habitat Critical Home Repair’s (HCHR) Energy Efficiency Program (EEP). We sometimes wonder if he sleeps!
Coapman is the founder and Director of Business Development for EnergyTight, LLC, (formally Greenhome) a home energy audit company based in Charlotte. He launched his business with a simple goal: to help homeowners save money while creating a healthier, more efficient home environment. Coapman’s desire to provide energy solutions and also have a positive impact in the world made working with Habitat Charlotte a no-brainer for him.
“When the opportunity arose to make Habitat houses more energy efficient, I jumped at the chance,” he said.
Matt learned about Habitat Charlotte and the positive affect the program has on local families after attending a Habitat Young Professionals event last year. The conversation he had resulted in a desire to serve. With his expertise in energy efficiency Matt quickly became heavily involved with the weatherization and energy efficiency efforts being made here.
Volunteering with Habitat has put Matt face to face with a community who genuinely “cares about how people live and about their quality of life.” He loves working with the Habitat staff, volunteers and partner families and says their commitment to service is unmistakable.
“You can’t help but want to be involved with something like that.” Matt says
Matt has given over 300 hours of leadership and service to HCHR’s EEP and has been an integral part of its success. In fact, earlier this year, he led a group of 150 volunteers who together weatherized nine homes in two days. He’s extremely proud of the growth both Habitat and his company have had since joining forces.
Thankfully, he plans to continue volunteering with Habitat and luckily for us, there’s no end in sight. Thank you so much for all you do, Matt!
